We sent our platform engineers to London. This is what they brought back.
Recently, Europe's most important conference focusing on cloud computing and platform engineering took place: KubeCon. Naturally, we were there and sent two of our sharpest minds over. They returned with new ideas, coarse voices, and a completely new LinkedIn feed.
The Golden Path
The hardest part of attending a conference with nearly 13,000 participants over four days is seeing the most important things. So many things happen simultaneously that you can't put together the optimal program. If you attend one keynote, you miss the other. So how do you use your freedom best and choose the right things to attend? Our delegates Christian and Kasper focused hard on contacts. It was about talking to as many people as possible while they had the chance. This resulted in worn-out voices and a lot of inspiration to make Bizzkit’s cloud solutions even better – both for those who develop solutions and for you who use them.

What exactly is platform engineering?
Christian and Kasper are part of Bizzkit's Cloud team and help Hesehus' developers get started faster and more securely with new projects. Platform engineering is about making it as simple as possible for developers to develop – it's about removing their hassle and giving them the tools to solve difficult coding problems through the entire life cycle of the software. It's a bit like the conference program. It's about making something overwhelming simpler, so it's easier to make the right choices and get a clearer path you can follow. In the end, it makes it faster and simpler to create new features for Bizzkit, so the systems are constantly evolving with new functions that make it easier to be in e-commerce.
If you're curious about platform engineering, this Talk from KubeCon with Lego is a good insight. At least that's what Kasper and Christian say.
Platform coffee and birds of a feather
KubeCon has provided a lot of new ideas, tools, and contacts to strengthen our cloud-based e-commerce platform. It has especially been the informal events at the conference such as platform coffee and birds of a feather, where Kasper and Christian could meet like-minded people and share ideas and challenges, that have given a lot of new inspiration and passion. The four days in London will of course not only benefit Kasper and Christian but all developers at Hesehus. For Kasper and Christian, the most important task is to improve the developer experience and share their new knowledge. It's about making it easier and more efficient to be a developer. And they are already well underway with implementing their inspiration, so it will be even faster to produce and upgrade e-commerce solutions from the top shelf in the future.
